Best things to do in Hawaii (Part 2)!
Mis à jour : 28 mars 2020
This post sounds like a deja vu? Don't worry it is not the same! Here is the second part of my post about the best things to do in Hawaii. As you know, I spent 3 weeks in Oahu and it was my best trip ever! If you didn't check the first part, it's right here. So, same thing that before, there isn't any order, everything is amazing!
1- Lanikai Pillbox Hike:
The Lanikai Pillbox Hike, also known as the Kaiwa Ridge Trail, is one of the most amazing and pleasant hike of Oahu. This intermediate hike isn't very hard but still full of rocks so be careful and put good shoes. At the top, you will have a breathtaking view of the beautiful Lanikai Beach, Kailua Beach and Mokolua Islands.
Often described as one of Oahu's most Oriental and mysterious neighborhoods, Chinatown is a unique and colorful part of local history that makes it an interesting stop on anyone's itinerary. You will find many stores who sells foods and souvenirs and also herbs and natural medicines.
3- Hanauma Bay:
To be honest, this was one of my favorite activities during all my trip. Originally formed by a volcanic cone, Hanauma Bay is the center of a preserved marine ecosystem. To enter you will have to pay few bucks and watch a short video about all the rules you have to respect on the bay. This place is the perfect spot for snorkeling, you will see fishes that you never saw before.
4- Koko Head Hike:
You will sweat a lot! Koko head hike is really hard, I can tell you. To reach the top, you will have to stride over 1,000 steps on an old railroad created during the World War II. This hike is tough but very popular, funny if you do it with your family and the view is incredible.
5- Botanical Garden:
You will have the choice, there are many botanical garden in Oahu. The most famous is the Ho'omaluhia Botanical Garden. 400 acres of peace and tranquility. If you are looking for Instagram spot, this one is the best! A picture of you in the middle of a road with all this nature behind you is really awesome. The Foster Botanical Garden is pretty cool too. In the middle of Downtown, this garden is full of tropical plants and huge trees. This one is really pleasant if you want to take a break of the city.
6- Waimea Valley:
Located in the North Shore, Waimea Falls Park is considered as one the best hikes in Oahu, but honestly, is it more like like a peaceful one mile walk through a nice botanical garden to reach the grand waterfall. Once arrive to the waterfall, you will only find small benches to put your bags and clothes, and if there is many tourists, you won't have a lot of place. But, the waterfall is worth it! This place is a small paradise. Don't forget that if you want to swim in the water there are rules: safety jackets and no jumping or diving from the rocks...
7- Honolulu Museum of Art:
As an art lover, I had to go to the Honolulu Museum of Art. This museum is really great. Over 60,000 pieces are exposed. From the Renaissance to the Modernism and from all Asia art to Europe, there is everything you need to see inside. Take a break in their famous Cafe and relax in their cute gardens. I didn't regret this place!
8- Kualoa Ranch:
This place is in my top 3 of my trip! Kualoa Ranch is a private nature reserve where you can discover the Jurassic Valley. Many activities are proposed there, as: ATV tour, kayak tour, horseback tour, movie tour, jungle jeep tour and zipline. Kualoa Ranch is the place where many movies were filmed as Jurassic Parc, Jumanji, Hawaii 5-0, Pearl Harbor and more... If you are a movie lover or just an adventurous person, go there!
I hope those information could help you if you are going to Hawaii soon or plan to. I know that there is more things to do but this is what I did!
I wish you a wonderful day everybody!
