Best things to do in Hawaii! (Part 1)

Mis à jour : mars 28

Going to Hawaii is your dream but you don't have time to search what are the best activities? I can help you! I went to Hawaii 3 weeks in February on the Oahu island, and I had the best time of my life! This island is full of incredible activities and place to go, so I decided to share with you what I did in Hawaii! (There isn't any order, everything is amazing).

1- Waikiki Beach:

The beach of Waikiki is the place to go when you arrive. The beach is really nice, you have an incredible view on Diamond head, you can rent jet ski, paddle board and more. This is also a good place to learn surf, and eat a delicious ice cream in "banan" a small shop in the Main Street to the beach. But don't forget that Waikiki beach is not the most beautiful, it's super small and full of tourists.

2- Manoa Falls:

Manoa Falls trail is a hike about 30min in the middle of the jungle to reach an amazing waterfall. The hike is not long but can be hard because the trail is full of mud, tree roots and gravel, so don't forget to take good shoes. You will walk into a good part of jungle where "Jurassic Park" 1993 scenes were shot. The waterfall is absolutely amazing, it's worth it!

3- Iolani Palace and King Kamehameha Statue:

This is a really good place if you like history. The Iolani Palace is really interesting, you visit the Palace of the king Kamehameha, his own apartment, and you learn a lot about the Hawaiian monarchy. In front the Palace you can see the King Kamehameha Statue, also know to be the main Hawaii 5-0 scene shot.

4- Byodo-In Temple:

The Byodo-In Temple is located at the foot of the Ko'olau Mountains in Valley of the Temples Memorial Park. It was established to commemorate the 100 year anniversary of the first Japanese immigrants to Hawaii. The Temple is a smaller replica of the 950-year-old Byodo-in Temple, in Japan. This place is really relaxing and peaceful.

5- Kailua and Lanikai Beach:

It is not only described as "most beautiful" of all Oahu beaches, but Lanikai Beach ranks as one of the best beaches in the world. Surrounded by an incredible blue water, it's really hard to not jump directly inside. Finding Lanikai Beach can be a bit tricky, you will know that you are in as “Lanikai” is written on a huge pillar entrance. The pedestrian access is located through beach alley ways between the residential homes. For me this beach is the paradise!

6- Diamond Head State Monument:

Diamond Head is a hike who offers breathtaking views overlooking Honolulu and the Pacific ocean. The trail is about 2hours round trip, and the last 99 steps are toughest if it's a really hot sunny day. Walking on a 300,000 years old crater is quite impressive. Don't forget water and good shoes!

7- Pearl Harbor:

I think I don't need to present Pearl Harbor, everybody knows that the 7th December 1941, Japanese attacks the US military base and 200,000 people died that night. The place is separate by what you want to see: submarine, battleship Missouri, USS Arizona, memorials.... If you are a bit sensitive about the war, you need to go to Pearl Harbor!

8- North Shore:

As his name, the North Shore is the north side of Oahu. This place is very famous for giant waves and surf, but also for having beautiful beaches. It's better to rent a car and do a small road trip on the coast. I recommend Haleiwa (Waialua Bakery is the greatest place for banana bread), Waimea bay (and Waimea Valley if you want to swim in a wonderful waterfall), Turtle beach, and Sandy Beach.

9- Kaka'ako:

Kaka'ako is a trendy neighborhood next to Ala Moana on Oahu island. This place is famous to have new and fashionable shops and restaurants. You will find amazing juice bar, fresh beer and Hawaiian food in the Salt center. And in the Kakaako Farmers' Market you will be able to find real coconut and local coffee. If you know Wynwood in Miami, Kaka'ako is kind of similar with many street arts too.

10- Makapu'u tide pools:

Located near Makapu’u Lighthouse trial, the naturals Makapu'u tide pools are just incredible. Many tourists walk near them without even knowing that they are near those magical natural pools.

You can enjoy a really nice time with friends and family, swim in wonderful blue waters and take dope Instagram shots.

I hope those information could help you if you are going to Hawaii soon! Don't worry the second part of this article is coming, there is just too much things to write about.

I wish you a wonderful day everybody!
